The launch gathered some 40 participants from both the private and the public sectors as well as academia, working in fields of tourism, marketing, design, computer science, migration, integration, and more.

The kick-off programme included presentations by TiMS’ financier, Formas, as well as our partners such as Visit Sweden and Tikitut Community Based Tourism. The researchers of TiMS presented the project as well as theory and practical examples of multiculturalism and diversity in tourism.

The event also incorporated a workshop with the aim of getting to know each other and TiMS, and to gather input at an early stage of the project. Valuable ideas were shared, such as expectations ofthe project, missing elements and participants’ possible contributions.

Many of the participants expressed a hope that TiMS will strengthen tourism research in Sweden, and create awareness among marketers and decision makers about issues of multiculturalism and tourism. Several of the participants moreover see opportunities to contribute to TiMS with test environments and arenas. Many also have their own local, regional and national projects, networks and contacts that can be connected with TiMS.

If you are interested in TiMS and would like to know more, please contact Sayaka Osanami Törngren at sayaka.torngren@mau.se.

TiMS at the International Transdisciplinary Conference Joining Forces for Change This week, Eva Maria Jernsand, Helena Kraff and Emma Björner from TiMS are participating in the International Transdisciplinary Conference 2019 “Joining Forces for Change” in Gothenburg, presenting TiMS and “Initial involvement of stakeholders in transdisciplinary projects – exploring issues of expectations, roles and inclusion”. Read more …

Fortsätt läsa ”News 2019”

["post-221","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry
["GET
